We have nine separate bloodlines I breed now, and they are registered as breeders. I been making a come back from the day that they stolen my aussie's. We'll have more litters per year planned. These are my family aussie's. Family lines can go as far back 1927 with this breed. Pre ww2 and before any one had the thought of getting wealthy off the registering any breed of dogs. My Grandparents as well as his father before him owned and raised aussie's for herding sheep and cattle. They never heard of such a thing as kennel clubs back in the day no one could afford to pay to be in one either. The dogs either earn their keep by hunting & herding or were bait, dog food, or other during the recession in the 30s. What we don't talk about is that lots of families in this country ate dogs when there wasn't nothing else to eat in the 20s & 30s.
Something to keep in mind; A registered dog like with the AKC, and ASCA would rather that you cut off the tail, other wise called docking. Or they are bred to NBTs to NBTs for this sort of effect. If not' they don't and will not let them in their club events in shows at the time this was written. They may how ever change this some time later. (For now they call it a fault.) They can not participate in official dog shows, or trials with a tail. THAT'S NUTS! They set their standards this way without regards to the aussie's, or the breed in fact: A lot of research into N.B.T.s (Natural Bob Tailed is just one born without a tail.) Which is a birth defect by fact. Aussie's are not to be bred to other NBTs this can cause spinal defects in the lines and is lethal in the homozygous condition. So docking them is the better idea. Any one can say other wise. It only matters to me what I know to be true by my own eyes, and our family history by the years of breeding we put in. You are welcome to disagree. But you'd be wrong.
The Facts: The causing factor as a mutation of the C189G T-Box transcription factor T gene Ile63. No dogs were found to be homozygous for the C189G mutation suggesting the homozygous condition is lethal Heterozygous for the C189G mutation are 29% reduction in litter size further enforces recessive embryonic lethality of the mutation.
Today the European countries don't allow docked dogs to participate in official shows and trials. Docking has been outlawed in European countries and a hole host of others. If you're caught docking you will be jailed & fined for cruelty to animals. As well as breeding NBTs to NBTs is outlawed. It's the law. BUT not here in the USA. Some states such as NY are tying to pass their own state law to put a end to this docking of tails. On the pretense it promotes dog fighting. Ok, I agree and I do wish them all the best. But Herding dogs are different in this respect. And if that happens I am afraid that breeders will breed NBTs to NBTs for prodigies with NBTs. There is no laws concerning that here.. YET. Catch 22. It is very important to keep diversity in the breed.
I registered mine with CKC they do not require docking, and I will not dock my aussie's in such a manor as animal rights people like to call it "butchering," and they do call me on the phone from time to time. I can't say I seen any of them stuck on a fence by their tail on thrown by live stock by the tail either. Talking about the activists not the aussie. It's my choice however not to change what God has made and given me. How can hacking off their parts be a betterment of the breed? Or like wise breeding them in hopes for a mutation in a genes. WHAT Craziness' is this thinking?
My reasons for reg'd are for record keeping and more control with limited registrations of litters. Keep in mind a reg'd paper just won't make the aussie eat less, run faster, or jump higher. If they change their rules for this I will opt out. Registrations don't make the aussie's aussie's now do they? Aussie have done very well on their own all these years. They never needed some club, or the need to feel they belong to something other then to their owners. Unlike us. So why is it then all these clubs started showing up after the first one.? The first was NSDR 1956. If you assume monetary reasons I'd say you were right in that assumption.
If you would love one the best aussie in the world you call me. These are outstanding in every way that matters. God made them the way they were born, if one is born NBT that is fine, but must never be bred to another aussie born that way that becomes homozygous.
The adoption price will vary depending on the generations and the battery of tests done on the lines as well as the social skills and training they encounter over the years making the lines what they are today. Dam & Sire of 4th generation their litter is (G5/5.3t) 3t= 3rd throw (litters) will cost more and rightly so. Keep in mind it takes no less then two years , or better to make the first generation aussie for breeding. You can just breed from age two to six. Then the breeder aussie's are retired (Spay). You must keep the dams replacement breeder at the age of their forth breeding year, so by this you keep the blood line and she can be bred at age two as the older dam is retired reaching age 6.
If you take grate care of your aussie they will be with you 15 years, or more. Every two years add one for each line you have breeding. To show what I mean I'll do the math by 5s. 5 lines over 14 years 5 x 7=35 My math is not so good that's why I picked a easy number like 5. In this manor as required by the rules with CKC and many other reg'd breeder programs you can gather up some numbers of aussie. Now for some breeders they may just give them to the spca, peta, paws, pound, or some other party with out a thought to the aussie. P.E.T.A. will put them down the same day they come in, or a few days later, and you can say I said this. I will repeat it. I know they lie about it, and they kill them all and I am not shy to stand up. There isn't any breeder out there worth their salt if they don't know that one thing about those monsters.

You must love aussie's to be a good breeder. The money go's back in to your program to the betterment of the breed as a whole. With that said; how can you give away your aussie that's been in your family for 6 years to these entities? I don't have any answer for that. The term puppy mill. I don't know what you think that is. It is in many forms. I see it as any one that breeds them from age 2-6 then dis-guards them as a waist of money as well. No love there.
The key to fining the best aussie is the breeder. Fine a outstanding breeder and his aussie's will be of the highest grade. After all it is the breeder that makes the breed what it is not just the breeding. Any aussie can breed, even two merles and NBTs to NBTs this you as a breeder must not allow. In line breeding is the only way to breed. Keeps your lines safe. I invite you to come out an meet mine any time. My lines I don't inbreed, no merle to merle, no NBTs to NBTs, no docking tails, no disguises. No puppy brokers, no Pet stores. NOT for resale.
I will receive rescue aussie's, so if you have one in need of a good home with lots of love, and lots of friends bring them to me. Do not take them to any Incorporated rescue out fit. Check the name and the web site they run. See if they are INC.. and don't trust what you read. It has been my Exp. that they do not care as they say. They are in it for money. It's just resale, or something.
All the grand's and grate grand's are here from my breeding lines. They are family, my family. I would love to share their prodigies with you and yours. That is if your up for it, and meet my standards. Must have Love to give, and be willing to share you life with someone that cares about you more the any other ever could, and if you have kids the better. Aussie's are really good with kids.
I have an open ended adoption system in place. If for any reason you can't keep one for the life of the aussie he/she must be brought back to the place of birth. (No reason's needed.) This is their forever family home, and always will be. You are the adopter. Their family roots and family are here. Most important that you understand this. My responsibilities to them don't end at the day of adoption. I am available 24/7 for any and all questions concerning them. I am not just a breeder. I am their trainer, their leader, their care giver. Do call, email, or stop by any time for any reason pertaining to aussie's.
I also have rooming for the days you have to be away for extended times, and can not take your aussie where ever it is you have to be for how ever long you have to be there. No charge, but for the type of food you chose, and normal care such as rabies shots if they haven't received it. It's all about the aussie's. It's all just that simple.
